Sendoff Receptions for the Class of 2012
The Colby Student Alumni Association and the Colby Clubs of Boston and Waterville are hosting receptions to welcome members of the Class of 2012 and their families to the Colby community. This is a great opportunity to meet lots of great people and get answers to last-minute questions about Colby. To RSVP for either event, call the Office of Alumni Relations at 207-859-4310 or e-mail alumni@colby.edu.

The Boston area reception will be Thursday, July 31, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Newton Marriott on Commonwealth Avenue. Please join your classmates, Colby alumni, and current Colby students for drinks, appetizers, and socializing. Directions: From route 128 North/South, take Exit 24 (Newton/Wayland—Rt. 30). At the first set of lights, the Newton Marriott is on your left.

The Waterville area barbecue will be Friday, August 15, 5:50-7:30 p.m. in front of the Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center at Colby. Directions: From Interstate 95 take exit 127 (formerly exit 33) and turn right onto Kennedy Memorial Drive. Take the second left onto First Rangeway at the light opposite Inland Hospital. Continue approximately a mile and turn left onto Mayflower Hill Drive, which leads to campus. The alumni center is on the right after the Lunder House (admissions) and before the tennis courts. Parking is available at the facility. In case of rain, the event will be held in the alumni center’s Parker-Reed Room.

The college years are interesting and exciting times for parents, as their children make the transition to independent young adulthood. As children move away from home and become adults, the role that parents play in their lives changes dramatically, but it does not become less important. Colby parents are encouraged to stay involved, and the College offers many ways to keep in touch, offer support, and stay informed.

Colby parents are members of Colby's alumni network. You can search for other Colby parents in your city, state, or region. More . . .

Parents are invited to volunteer for the newly created Welcome Committee, which makes calls to parents of incoming students over the summer before their first-year student arrives at Colby. To learn more, e-mail parents@colby.edu.

Colby students document life on Mayflower Hill for publications and Web pages. And now they're sharing images in an online photo gallery called The Student Lens. Each week they upload new shots. View current and previous installments.

Are you curious about how students can find those interesting internships for the summer or Jan Plan?
