So you want to be a Blue Light…

The Blue Lights are a relaxed and fun loving group of guys who, besides being really, really, really, ridiculously good looking, enjoy making sweet music and showering the Colby campus with vocal tenderness (we're also modest). If you're a beautiful, humble, and vocally inclined person this might be the group for you.

Next Fall we'll be holding auditions the first weekend of the semester, and are hoping to add to our stock with some new pipes. Information about auditioning and scheduling is listed below, but, if you've got any additionally questions about the group, check out the rest of the site or feel free to contact Chris at cazajcho@colby.edu.

Fall Audition Schedule: (a lot of the dates and times will be decided at the beginning of next year, so sorry for the lack of info.)

Activities Fair: We'll be hanging out all evening, so stop by and listen to some of our tracks, find out a little bit about the group, and sign up for an audition slot.

Information Session: We'll sing a song, teach it to you, and bore you with some more Blue Light propaganda.

Auditions: TBA

Audition Questions, Facts, and Tips:

What does an audition consist of?
Auditions help us to get to know you as a person and a signer. We'll run you through some warm ups, you'll sing a little with the group, and we'll listen to your solo.

What's the deal with the solo?
Basically just choose a song you'd like to sing and run with it. As a tip, we do sing mostly contemporary music so classical pieces might not be the best choice.

How many guys are you looking for?
We have two guys going abroad so we're hoping to pick up a couple people, but we don't really have an exact number. We are in need of all voice parts.

Do I have to be a music major or have had any previous singing experience?
No. Experience helps, but it's not a must. We do have an unhealthy amount of music majors in the group, but we also have guys who never sang until they got to Colby.

I'm going to be a "first-year" - what are my odds like?
Pretty sweet. Most of our guys got in as freshman, and we find they're the easiest to manipulate. But seriously, the odds are in your favor.

Are the Blue Lights the most awesomely sweet A Cappella group on campus?
Objectively, yes.
